The Chicago Region SCCA presents TRACKSPRINT South, a timed track event held on the South Course at Autobahn Country Club in Joliet on Friday, August 28, 2026. This event offers a unique time-attack experience focusing on learning the racing line, ideal for new track drivers or those wanting to test a new vehicle in a controlled environment. Drivers will complete runs on 3/4 of Autobahn's layout without cones, experiencing maximum seat time with dedicated intervals between cars and no passing allowed. TrackSprint offers a flexible driving experience that is less demanding on brakes, tires, and temperatures compared to typical HPDE events. Participants can enjoy classroom sessions and access to mentors throughout the day to answer questions and offer advice. Trophies are awarded in each class, with cars classed based on power and modification level, while drivers are grouped by experience. While a set number of runs cannot be guaranteed due to potential weather or on-track incidents, participants typically enjoy five to six runs. Registration for this event closes at noon on event day. No walk-up registrations are available. The participation fee is $125, or $65 for those who volunteer to work part of the event. Drivers need a safe, street-legal, licensed, plated, and insured car, with convertibles requiring proper roll-over protection. Most high center of gravity vehicles are not permitted. A helmet with a current competition rating (Snell, SFI, or FIA) is required; DOT-only helmets are not accepted. Limited SCCA loaner helmets and Autobahn rental helmets may be available. Cars must display 10-inch tall, contrasting numbers on both sides. Drivers must wear long pants and closed-toe shoes on track, with cotton shirts preferred. An annual or weekend SCCA membership is mandatory for participation, with weekend memberships costing $25 and applicable towards an annual membership within 60 days.
