The Steel City Tour is a Porsche Club event presented by Rivers of Steel, exploring the history of steelmaking in Pittsburgh. The tour takes place at the Rivers of Steel venue in Homestead, PA, and is open to Porsches only. This day-long itinerary includes a guided exploration of historic sites central to Pittsburgh's steel story and the 1892 Battle of Homestead. Attendees will visit The Bost Building, the Carrie Blast Furnaces National Historic Landmark, and The Pump House. The tour package costs $115.00 per person and includes a step-on guide, admission to all three locations, and a catered immigrant-inspired lunch at The Pump House. The event begins with a driver safety meeting at 8:20 AM, followed by departure from THE LOT AT EDGEWATER in Oakmont at 8:30 AM. Participants will arrive at The Bost Building at 9:00 AM, depart at 10:15 AM for the Carrie Blast Furnaces, arriving at 10:30 AM. Departure from the Carrie Blast Furnaces is scheduled for 12:30 PM, with arrival at The Pump House at 12:45 PM. The tour concludes at 3:00 PM. Registration is mandatory. Directions will be emailed one week prior to the event, and the route will be published on SCENIC for download. Paper directions will also be provided. Sensible shoes such as sneakers or boots are recommended due to uneven ground; open-toed shoes and high heels are prohibited. Hard hats, which are supplied, are required when visiting the Carrie Blast Furnace site.
