Skidpad Car Control and Autocross Fun Runs

Road Potomac will host a Car Control Clinic and Wet Skidpad Event with dry autocross fun runs at Summit Point Motorsports Park's Potomac Pad. This all day event costs $375 per person and focuses on car control skills. The wet skidpad session allows drivers to practice recognizing and recovering from understeer and oversteer at speeds of 35 mph or less. Beginners will be grouped with one other car on the skidpad, while advanced students may have up to three cars at a time. The fun runs are not timed or competitive and are designed for drivers to apply the car control skills learned on the skidpad in a dry environment. Drivers must be at least 16 years old to participate. A helmet is required for the fun runs only; helmets are not needed for the skidpad portion. Helmet rentals are available for $50. In-car instruction is provided for all participants until skill level is determined. Note that Summit Point Motorsports Park no longer permits EVs or hybrids in any motorsport discipline, so these vehicles cannot be accepted for skidpad events. Expect your car to get dirty on the skidpad and plan for a wash afterward. Registration takes place from 7:45 AM to 8:15 AM. All participants must arrive no later than 8:15 AM for check-in and grid. A briefing and classroom session will follow from 8:15 AM to 8:30 AM. The skidpad will be active from 8:30 AM until 5:30 PM. Each driver will have approximately 50 minutes on the skidpad and roughly 20 fun runs. Breakfast and lunch are provided, but the event cannot accommodate dietary restrictions, so participants with restrictions should bring their own food. Once payment is charged, there are no refunds.
