PCA Chesapeake Autocross #5 is a performance driving event that takes place at Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen, MD. Autocross involves navigating a course outlined by soft orange traffic cones at speeds typically between 25-70 MPH, primarily in 2nd gear. This event emphasizes car handling, allowing drivers to experience their car's limits, gain confidence, and learn optimal control techniques. It is also a social gathering for new and returning participants. The event schedule begins with venue opening at 7:00 AM, followed by registration and tech inspection from 7:30 AM. The course opens for walking at 8:30 AM, with a guided course walk from 8:30 AM to 8:50 AM. A mandatory driver meeting is scheduled from 9:00 AM to 9:15 AM, and the first car departs at 9:30 AM. The event is expected to conclude around 3:30 PM. Entry fees are $60 for PCA members and $70 for non-PCA members who preregister. All makes and models are welcome. For those curious about autocross, a "Taste of Autocross" is available for $5, offering an opportunity to ride with instructors; no registration is needed for this option, simply check in at the trailer on event day. MSR registration is capped at 80 drivers, and online payment is required for preregistration. There are no walk-up registrations for drivers. Classing for non-Porsches follows SCCA rules, found in the 2026 SCCA SOLO Rules (Jan Edition) starting on page 188. Porsche classing information, including Showroom stock (S), Production (P), Improved (I), and Modified (M) categories, is available in the Chesapeake PCA Autocross Rules on the club website. Due to noise restrictions, cars must adhere to a sound level below 108 dBc, measured according to SCCA procedures outlined in the 2026 SCCA SOLO Rules (Jan Edition) on page 326.
