The Pan American Region (PAR) of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) presents Championship Event 5, a Solo Autocross competition at Cohen Stadium in El Paso, TX. This event focuses on precision driving and vehicle handling on a cone-marked course. Almost any road-legal car that is not a rollover risk can be driven, with vehicles classed by capabilities to level the competition. Drivers will compete against the clock, completing multiple runs with their best time contributing to the final results. Expect to register, sign a waiver, present a valid driver's license, and have your vehicle and helmet inspected. Loaner helmets are available from PAR SCCA. Participants will walk the course, attend a mandatory drivers' meeting to review rules and safety, and assist with event setup and tear down. Drivers will be divided into two groups, alternating between driving and officiating duties such as controlling starts, noting cone penalties, and resetting cones. Trophies will be awarded at the end of the day. Registration for this event opens at 7:45 am and closes at 8:30 am. No registrations will be accepted after 8:30 am. Event setup begins at 7:00 am, and all participants are expected to help. The course is open for walking from 7:00 am to 8:45 am. The mandatory drivers' meeting and worker assignment will take place from 8:30 am to 9:00 am. Run/Work Blocks are scheduled from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, followed by course teardown and equipment loading from 1:30 pm to 2:00 pm. Times are nominal. Entry fees are $60 for SCCA Annual Members who pre-register, or $70 for walk-up registration. For non-SCCA Annual Members, the fee is $80 for pre-registration, which includes a required $20 weekend SCCA membership, or $90 for walk-up registration. A $10 extra fee applies to all walk-up registrations. Payment can be made online via Motorsportreg.com using a credit/debit card or check, or at the event with cash or credit card. Drivers may have one passenger who must use a seat, seatbelt, and helmet. Securely mounted cameras are permitted, but operating hand-held equipment during runs is prohibited. Passengers and drivers must keep all body parts inside the car throughout each run. Any adult in hot areas must sign a waiver. Minors aged 12-18 can participate as passengers or volunteers, and can drive with a valid driver's license, provided they and all parents sign a waiver. Minors under 12 are only allowed as spectators in designated areas and must be supervised by an adult. This event is subject to cancellation due to scheduling conflicts; all fees will be refunded in such cases.
