The Oregon Region SCCA '26 #2 is a hands-on Tire Rack Street Survival driving experience focused on real-world situations, held at Portland International Raceway. This class is designed exclusively for students aged 15-19. The program aims to teach students about their car's handling limits and how to control them, emphasizing increased observation of traffic situations and anticipating other drivers' actions. Students will learn to apply physics to drive their cars more safely and understand the importance of seatbelt use for themselves and passengers. The day is structured into multiple 1-hour slots, rotating two groups of students between classroom instruction and hands-on driving. An experienced driving coach will be present in the passenger seat at all times, guiding the student as they practice braking, steering, and controlling the car in safe, controlled, simulated emergency situations. The registration fee for all schools is $175. Students must register using their own name. Minors and their parents must complete SCCA's required waivers; a step-by-step video on Tire Rack Street Survival Minor Waivers is available. Parents can create a motorsportsreg account under their name and add their teen driver to their profile, but ensure the teen driver is registered for the event. The event will operate out of the North Paddock. Participants must use their own car, and it must be in good operating condition, including seatbelts, wheels, tires, brakes, and electrical systems. High Center of Gravity (HCG) vehicles such as SUVs, trucks, minivans, and Jeeps require verification before participation. Older HCGs without electronic stability control will not be accepted. HCG vehicles with electronic stability control may have limitations on exercises based on local venue conditions. You can research vehicle safety ratings at www.safercar.gov or edmunds.com/ratings. Only HCG vehicles with a listing of 3 stars or more out of 5 will be allowed; vehicles listed as "not tested" will not be permitted. Passenger cars do not require review.
