Talladega Gran Prix Raceway hosts Open Kart Day on August 22, 2026, offering kart drivers the opportunity to use a closed circuit racetrack. Track time is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, and space is limited to 25 karts per session. Each group receives one 20-minute session per hour. Private instruction of any kind is prohibited during this event. The driver fee is $170.00 for early bird registration. A late fee of $20.00 applies for sign-ups within 14 days of the event, and trackside registration on event day incurs an additional $25.00 fee. If multiple drivers use the same kart in the same skill group, only one driver pays the full registration fee, and additional drivers register at a reduced rate at the gate on the day of the event. Drivers in different skill groups must each pay the full registration fee. All karts must pass a safety technical inspection prior to track admittance. Karts that do not pass inspection will not receive a refund. Karts must display a legible sticker provided by the track. Drivers must produce a current state photo ID upon request. Minors 14 years and older require a valid competition license from a nationally recognized racing sanction. Without a competition license, the minimum driver age is 16. A minor’s release is required for all persons under 18. Required safety gear includes a damage-free full-face helmet (BSI, ECE-2205, DOT, or SNELL approved) with an integral visor, full-length pants, gloves, socks, and shoes. Loose clothing and open-toe or slip-on shoes are not permitted. Neck braces and chest protection devices are recommended. See the Open Kart_Rules_v.2026b.pdf and Open Kart_Tech Inspection_v.2026b.pdf for full requirements. Refunds, minus a 15% administration fee, are issued only with a written request received 14 or more days before the event. Credit for cancellations is issued with a written request received 7 or more days before the event; credit expires 6 months from issuance and cannot be transferred or applied to completed orders. No cancellations are accepted 7 days or less before an event, and no refunds or credits are issued within this timeframe. Open Kart events run rain or shine. If TGPR cancels an event due to hazardous weather, credits will be issued for future use, but drivers must be present at the event to receive credit. Event cancellations due to other unforeseen circumstances will also result in cancellation credits. Damage to any part of the facility or grounds will be billed directly to the responsible person(s) at the time of occurrence.
