Talladega Gran Prix Raceway hosts Open Car Day on December 5, 2026. This event is open to all makes and models for those looking to drive their car on a safe, open track. Electric vehicles and hybrids are not permitted due to safety concerns, and charging of alternative fuel vehicles or electric vehicles is prohibited on TGPR property. Early Bird pricing is $170 per driver for a full day on the track. A late fee of $20 applies for registrations made within 14 days of the event. Trackside registrations on event day incur an additional $25 fee. If multiple drivers will share a car within the same skill group, only one driver pays the full registration fee, and additional drivers can sign up at a reduced rate at the gate on event day. Drivers in different skill groups must each pay the full registration fee. We offer Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced run groups. Specific tech requirements and rules are available in the Open Car_Rules_v.2026b.pdf and Open Car_Tech Inspection_v.2026c.pdf documents. Private instruction, whether as an instructor or student, is strictly prohibited and is grounds for dismissal without refund. Drivers must wear clothing, with natural fibers recommended and long pants optional. Shoes that cover the entire foot are required. Helmets must be DOT approved and no more than 5 years old. Refunds, less a 15% administration fee, are issued for written requests received 14 or more days before the event. Credit will be issued for written cancellations received 7 or more days prior to the event. Credit cannot be applied to completed orders, transferred to another driver, and expires 6 months after issuance. No cancellations, credits, or refunds are issued for requests made 7 days or less before an event.
