Hooked On Driving presents its Season Opener HPDE and Time Trial at New Jersey Motorsports Park Thunderbolt on Saturday, August 22 and Sunday, August 23. The event takes place at 8000 Dividing Creek Rd, Millville, NJ 08332, at the 2.25 mile Thunderbolt Raceway. HOD provides comprehensive training designed to improve car control and awareness for drivers of all skill levels. This event offers five on-track HPDE sessions, conditions permitting, for Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, and Expert Drivers. Novice drivers can receive in-car instruction. All HPDE participants will have access to professional classroom sessions and after-session group debriefs. Three Time Trial sessions, also conditions permitting, are available for HOD Advanced and Expert group drivers, instructors, or drivers holding a current competition or TT license, subject to clearance by the Chief Instructor. Time Trial classes T3, T2, T1, and TU are determined by tire width and type as detailed in the rules. Rental track vehicles are available; contact Northeast@HookedOnDriving.Com for details. Entry fees are $499 per day for Intermediate and Advanced drivers, and $549 per day for Novice drivers, which includes coaching and classroom sessions. Multi-day discounts and early bird registration are available. Coach and instructor registration is free 30 days prior to the event, or $100 within 30 days. A Time Trial adder to HPDE registrations costs $200 per day for three additional sessions (one practice, two timed). Time Trial only entry is $375 per day, including three sessions. An optional Track Damage Defense Waiver of up to $1,000 for facility damage is available for $100 per day or $150 for two days. Event registration questions should be directed to Northeast@HookedOnDriving.Com. The event runs rain or shine. Drivers must be 18 years or older, or 16-17 with a parental waiver. Helmets must be SNELL SA2020 or newer; closed-face helmets with visors are required for convertibles. Helmet rentals are available for $50 per day. Appropriate clothing includes long pants and closed-toe shoes; race suits are recommended for race cars. Prohibited vehicles include SUVs, trucks, motorcycles, open-wheel vehicles, hybrids, fully electric cars, and small chassis track cars such as Atoms, Exocets, and Rush. Vehicles must pass a self-tech inspection, and drivers are responsible for any track damage or cleanup costs. Refunds or credits will not be issued for loss of track time due to unprepared, unsafe, or mechanically deficient vehicles. Camping is available on-site through NJMP directly, with electrical service available for purchase. Paddock space is provided, and trailers may be dropped off after 7:00 PM the night before the event. All vehicles must depart by 6:00 PM on the last day. On-site amenities include fuel, food at the NJMP clubhouse, and a social BBQ in the paddock on Saturday night provided by HOD NE, with hot dogs, burgers, and sides. Attendees should BYOB. Note that in-car passengers are restricted to HOD-cleared instructors at NJMP; passenger wristbands for educational laps with an instructor driving are $20 for non-registered participants. A certified head and neck restraint device (HANS) must be used with aftermarket harnesses and roll bar/cage systems. For cancellation policies, refer to the detailed schedule: event fees minus a $50 processing fee will be refunded for cancellations 31 days or more before an event, or credited to an HOD account. Cancellations 11-30 days prior will receive an HOD account credit minus a $100 per event day fee. Cancellations 10 days or less before an event, or no-shows, forfeit all event fees.
