The GPX Tour to Mt. Baldy on August 29, 2026, will explore the "Twisties" route, following the path of the 2013 Escape to LA Tour. The drive begins in Azusa and climbs from 800 feet to nearly 8000 feet, offering a cooler climate at the summit. Along the route, participants will encounter several points of historical interest, including the former gold mining areas of the San Gabriel Mountains, Morris Dam where airborne torpedoes were tested during World War II, the historic Crystal Lake Café and Trading Post established in 1934, and the US Forest Service's Experimental Forest. The tour also covers parts of Glendora Ridge Road, a route used by the Tour of California Bicycle race. At Mount Baldy, a parking fee applies: $5.00 for online purchases or $10.00 if purchased on site. Attendees can take Chairlift #1 to the Top of the Notch Restaurant for lunch, then ride Chairlift #4 back down, providing scenic views. This event will take place rain or shine.
