The Texas Region of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) hosts the DFW Shortest Distance Map Rally on Saturday, August 15, 2026, in Denton County, Texas. This event is sanctioned as a Regional Rally by SCCA, under Sanction Number 26-RRRG-67737. It is the second event of the 2026 Texas Region SCCA RoadRally season and does not qualify for National Championship points. All street-legal vehicles with 3 or 4 wheels are welcome, including sports cars, family cars, classic cars, antiques, hot rods, cruisers, and convertibles. Each car must have at least two people, a driver and a navigator. If a minor child (<18) is in the car, contact roadrally@texasscca.com as a form will need to be signed. This is a shortest-distance map rally, which SCCA classifies as a GTA (Games, Tours, Adventures) rally. The goal is to visit 17 specified locations in Denton County horse country in the shortest distance possible. You will determine your route using provided maps, without GPS or electronic aids during the route planning phase. Once on the road, GPS and other electronic aids are permitted in all classes. Locations will be verified by the Richta GPS smartphone app, and scores are automatically reported to the Rallymaster. This is not a speed or racing contest. Awards will be given to the team that visits all required landmarks in the shortest distance. The rally is expected to take approximately 3½ hours. Registration and the starting place are at Prairie House Restaurant, 10001 US-380, Cross Roads, Texas 76227. Registration opens at 9:45 am on Rally Day and closes at 10:15 am, though times may be adjusted. After registration, you will receive maps and instructions and have 30 minutes to determine your route. Cars will leave the official start at 1-minute intervals, with the first car out around 10:30 am. The finish is also at Prairie House Restaurant. In the unlikely event of odometer problems, participants will be instructed to complete an odometer calibration run upon return to the restaurant. A GPS-based odometer app is encouraged for all contestants to ensure consistent mileage measurements; information on these apps will be sent after pre-registration. Classes include First-timer, Novice (3 rally trophies or less), General, and Master (an optional class with no trophies). The rally entry fee is $45.00 per vehicle, with a $15.00 discount for regular SCCA Members. A $5.00 late fee will be assessed to anyone not preregistered on MotorsportReg.com. Entrants are encouraged to pre-register at least a week in advance. The Rally Committee reserves the right to limit entries. A brief Rally School will be conducted via Zoom on August 9th to help prepare for the rally; details and pre-registration for the school are available at https://msreg.com/DMR26RSmsr. A YouTube video recording of the session will be posted for those unable to attend live. Rally rules will be emailed to registrants a few days before the event. The Rally Master is John Poulos.
