The Buckeye Chapter BMW CCA Driving School is August 15-16 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. A limited number of slots are available for A-Solo students to run on Friday, August 14. Student cost is $625 for BMW CCA members for Saturday and Sunday, which includes four on-track sessions each day. Register before June 1 for a $50 discount. Non-members pay a $50 fee. Instructors pay $125 for Saturday and Sunday, with a $25 discount if registered before June 1. Adding Friday for instructors costs an additional $150. A-Solo students on Friday is $250, subject to Chief Instructor approval. The event includes a Saturday evening dinner at 6:30 PM at the host hotel. Free coffee is available Friday, Saturday, and Sunday mornings outside garage 7. This is a drivers school, not a race, designed to provide performance driving techniques under safe conditions. Students are grouped by skill for in-class and on-track sessions, with in-car instruction for C (novice) and B run groups. A-Solo will also run. R compound tires are discouraged for beginning students. Registration is Friday night from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM at the Quality Inn and Suites, 1000 Comfort Plaza Dr, Bellville, OH 44813. The hotel block rate has expired, but you may call 419-886-7000 to check for vacancies. All drivers must be 18 with a valid driver's license; 16-17 year olds need a minor waiver signed by both parents. Vehicles require a technical inspection within 30 days of the event. A Snell 2015 or newer helmet (MA and SA ratings accepted) is required; helmet rentals are $40 for the weekend. Open cars are permitted only with full roll cages and arm restraints, requiring prior Chief Instructor approval. Retractable hardtop convertibles are allowed; reach out for verification if unsure. Instructors must be approved by Chief Instructors Lance White and Steve Schardt and are required to review the Ross Bentley instructor manual. The BMW CCA waiver must be completed online before arrival. Mid-Ohio permits electric and hybrid vehicles, but emergency crews will not approach these vehicles in case of fire, except to assist occupants. No drones are permitted. Cancellations up to July 18 will receive a full refund. Cancellations between July 25 and August 1 will receive a refund less the processing fee only if a waitlisted student takes the spot. No cancellations after August 1. Participants are responsible for any damages to the Mid-Ohio facility.
