The Alpine Mountain Region Porsche Club of America presents an off road tour to Boreas Pass on an as yet unannounced date. The tour begins at Porsche Colorado Springs, the event sponsor and meeting location. Drivers will meet at 8:00 AM for an 8:30 AM driver's meeting, followed by an 8:45 AM departure. The tour heads west through Lake George and north along Tarryall Road, with a restroom stop at Tarryall Reservoir before continuing west to Como. From Como, the group will take Boreas Pass Road to the Black Powder Pass Trailhead near the summit for a picnic lunch. Participants should bring their own picnic lunch and are welcome to bring a snack, side dish, or dessert to share. After lunch, participants can return to Colorado Springs via the same route or continue on to Breckenridge. Boreas Pass Road is a maintained Forest Service road of gravel and dirt. Expect washboard sections, loose gravel, potholes, and occasional uneven terrain. This route is generally suitable for most SUVs and crossovers in dry conditions. Recommended vehicles include Porsche Cayenne, Porsche Macan, and other SUVs or crossovers with moderate ground clearance. Low-clearance sports cars are not recommended. Participants should bring a picnic lunch, drinking water, an optional folding chair or picnic blanket, a jacket or layers for changing mountain weather, sunscreen, and a hat.
