The Alpine Mountain Region PCA will host a scenic summer drive to Great Sand Dunes National Park on Saturday, August 15, 2026. This tour departs from Porsche Colorado Springs at 8:20 AM (first group) or 8:30 AM (second group) following a 7:30 AM check-in and 8:00 AM driver's meeting. The route travels south from Colorado Springs through the mountains and San Luis Valley, with a scheduled fuel and restroom stop from 10:30 AM to 10:50 AM. The tour includes lunch at Sand Dunes Recreation at 12:00 PM, followed by an arrival at Great Sand Dunes National Park between 1:30 PM and 1:45 PM. Lunch menu selections, including cheeseburger, smothered slopper burger, Sand Dunes club, French dip, Sand Dunes Caesar salad, or The Good Life salad, with various side choices, must be made during registration. Once at the park, the afternoon is open for exploring the dunes, renting sandboards or sleds, hiking to Zapata Falls, or returning to Sand Dunes Recreation for discounted soaking admission. Suggested items to bring include comfortable walking shoes, water, sunscreen, sun protection, a full tank of gas, and a camera. Registration for this event is $60 per person and includes lunch at Sand Dunes Recreation, admission to Great Sand Dunes National Park, and tour costs. If you already possess an America the Beautiful pass or another valid National Park Pass, please select the "Park Pass Not Needed" option during checkout to avoid duplicate charges for park admission. Sand Dunes Recreation offers group rates for pool and soaking admission: $6 for children aged 2-13, $9 for general admission, and $12 for 21+ Green House admission; there is no charge for guests not soaking.
