The 2026 Tempest Raceway League 5 for drivers 25 and under kicks off on Friday, August 28, 2026, at NJMP Tempest Raceway. Drivers must be present by 6:15 PM for the mandatory Drivers Meeting. The five-week season costs $450 and runs every Friday for five weeks, utilizing NJMP’s rental kart fleet. League 5 race dates are August 28, September 4, September 11, September 18, and October 2, 2026. There is no makeup date for this league. Participants must purchase the entire five-week season; walk-ins are not permitted. Entries are capped at 15 drivers. Participating racers can access a special $20 practice rate on race days from 3 PM to 6 PM, based on availability. Each week, drivers will complete four sessions: a 10-minute practice, a 12-lap qualifying session scored by fastest lap time, a 12-lap sprint race scored by position, and a 20-lap final race scored by position. Points are awarded based on sprint and final race results, with bonus points for pole position and fastest laps. A podium ceremony will be held after the five-week series to celebrate the top three drivers with the most points. Prize payouts, in the form of full-value admission or gift cards, will be awarded based on the total number of registered drivers. In the event of inclement weather, league events may be postponed or canceled for a given week. NJMP will proactively work to run all scheduled races, but if this is not possible, races will be credited as Arrive and Drive sessions. All drivers are expected to adhere to driving standards and passing rules, and penalties will be assessed for infractions such as passing under yellow, unsportsmanlike conduct, reckless driving, blocking, or avoidable contact. Safety is paramount, and participants are required to be 5 feet tall and at least 13 years old. Drivers under 18 must have a legal parent or guardian present to sign a minor waiver. Closed-toed shoes are required. Drivers are responsible for any damages incurred during league sessions; the NJMP Karting Protection Plan is highly recommended for inexperienced drivers and can be added during registration or in person.
